Hey

I have a question and I hope you have some time to help me. :(

My json database contains some names and links.
I
am able to view the names in a table view. I want to touch on a name
and open the link from my json database in a webviewcontroller.

do you know what I mean? i have to touch on the table cell and the url from the database should be opened in my webview

Hi Richard,

Thank you for the feedback, the next patch is currently in the testing phase but I will try to slot in the suggestions you made.

This patch will include dropbox syncing, export to CSV (which is a lot easier than connecting to the database file) iPad support and instructional videos on how to use it all correctly.

This is likely to be released with in the next fortnight.

Thanks for getting back to me. I've been having a
play with it and thought I could provide the following;

The first screen mentions "Location.” As a result, I entered the
name of the location I was working. When the Defect was emailed, this turned up
as the "Inspector’s name" - This should perhaps be clearer on
the first screen?

Sub Heading Asset Details – As I’m working on Civil Works, I’d be prone
to entering the same Asset Description/ID Number over and over – Perhaps a “Copy
from Previous” to save the user re-entering the title of the road and ID number
ever time?

I’ll be interested in taking a look at the Database when I next sync.

Hi Richard,

I did look at adding a chainage field but at the time of release no one was really asking for it and the x y co-ordinates were sufficient. If a chainage is absolutely needed I would be happy to add it in the location area of the form so the user can type it in.

Right now, the data can be exported via iTunes file sharing. This will give you a SQLite file and all the images, from there you can use this plugin http://www.ch-werner.de/sql... to connect to the sqlite file via ODBC with microsoft access.

I can send you more specific instructions and examples if you would like.

We are also looking at improving the export functionality in the next patch to be able to export to a dropbox folder and export the database as a CSV which should make things a bit simpler.

Hi. Myself and a number of colleagues are interested in using your Defects App. We're currently assessing damage to unmade roads. Typically, we would assign the Chainage in metres against where the damage has occurred and take photographs. Does the App allow for this sort of intergration? How is the data exported? Ideally, we'd get a table with the photograph, GPS coords, Chainage from the start point and the defect itself.

Just letting you know the bug related to emailing photos has been resolved and submitted to apple for review.

iOS6 and iPhone 5 support has also been added.

Hi Andrew, Thank you for your comment. I will have a look at photo attaching bug for you, it was encountered by another user however it only occurred once out of about 100 email uses so we thought it was a once off.

As for your second question, we use MS Access 2003 to access the data using this driver to connect to the sqlite via ODBC file http://www.ch-werner.de/sql... .

We are looking at other options such as dropbox synching and exporting as a CSV file for future versions of this app.

We are welcome to recommendations for features and improvements if you have anything else which will make your job easier.

Defects Collector - excellent app, exactly what I have been looking for. Being able to customise fields & lists is spot on. I have won a couple of road maintenance contracts and starting using the app today. One prob - 1st couple of times all good but will no longer attach photos to defects emailed from the app.(using latest Iphone)
Help?? - I can transfer the files & photos from itunes to my PC (running windows 7) but them I'm stuck, don't have a Mac. Any tips on viewing / editing the data in windows would be appreciated. Also being able to use & send the interactive map to my client would really blow them away.

I've found it to be accurate enough for how I use it, the results can be affected by driving a car and other stuff which might not be real activity.

For me, I use the device to make myself exercise more so generally accuracy isn't a big thing for me, as long as it is close I know I just have to keep working out until I reach my goal.
